Viet actor & writer…

~*~ i really like this song at the moment! ~*~

about me…

TuQuyen is a 1st-generation Vietnamese actor & writer based in New York. Daughter to two Vietnamese refugees, she was born and raised in rural Pennsylvania, where she spent much of her childhood playing soccer, eating Rita’s Ice, and dragging her parents to the local movie theater every weekend.

TuQuyen earned her bachelor’s from Boston University, studying Finance, Economics, and Film & TV. Upon graduating, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the arts! She spent time working at Paramount Studios, frequenting comedy improv theaters, writing her own plays, and working on film sets--the place where she feels most at home. While she explored the behind-the-scenes world of storytelling (cinematography/directing/writing), she ultimately found her need to perform. After years of hustling, she decided to take a leap of faith and pursue an acting career!
As of 2025, TuQuyen is a graduate of Columbia University’s MFA Acting Program, where she trained with master teacher Ron Van Lieu, James Calleri, and Peter Jay Fernandez. She has also studied classical theatre at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.
In New York, she continues to workshop & originate roles for emerging playwrights including Sophie McIntosh, Esmé Maria Ng, Meg Ledford, and Kanika Vaish. She has also assistant directed HENRY VIII at her alma mater.
Outside the theater, she loves to read nonfiction & poetry (esp. Ocean Vuong, Angela Davis, Eve Babitz, Hanif Abdurraqib), collect vinyl records, host a podcast, do pilates, study the Vietnamese language (as a beginner...hehe), binge-watch OUTLANDER, and make latte art at her barista day job!
